Relief valve

This valve automatically releases the pressure when excessive pressure is produced in the pump's discharge-side piping due to clogging by foreign matter or a closed valve.

A check ball is contained in both the discharge side and the suction side to prevent metering pump backflow by ensuring fluid entering the pump head is always sent out from the discharge side. Because of this, if the discharge side is blocked for some reason during operation, such as due to freezing or the valve being closed, the liquid will have nowhere to go and cause increased pressure, resulting in significant damage to the equipment or other components, or liquid leakage.

Relief valves prevent such problems from occurring through automatic release of such pressure.
