Polymer coagulant

A chemical used in water treatment, causing particulates suspended in sewage water to clump together and settle.

Also known as polymer flocculants, polymer coagulants are generally organic and offer significantly greater coagulation effectiveness at low dosing rates than inorganic flocculants. The chemical uses ionic bonding to capture and adsorb suspended and dissolved substances with a long, thin threadlike substance unique to macromolecules, like glue.

Polymer coagulants are characterized by large agglomerated flocs and faster sedimentation than inorganic flocculants.
