Newtonian fluid

A Newtonian fluid is any fluid that obeys Newton’s law of fluids, which states that the strength of the resistance due to the viscosity of a fluid increases as the viscosity of the fluid increases. For single-molecule fluids, the viscosity will remain stable even if the shear rate (the change in flow velocity per unit distance in a fluidized bed) changes.

Conversely, non-Newtonian fluids are fluids with a viscosity that changes with the shear rate. Such fluids are often found in beverages and foods.
