Impeller pump

A type of non-positive displacement pump.

Impeller pumps use centrifugal force from the rotation of an impeller to increase a liquid’s pressure.

As such, impeller pumps are more commonly known as centrifugal pumps.

The most common types of impellers used in impeller pumps are closed—with vanes located between two discs (shroud)—or open—with vanes that are free on both sides.
