Digital signal

A signal that represents numerically encoded data.

In a computer circuit, continuous analog waveforms are represented by low (0) or high (1) voltages only.

More specifically, analog waveforms are sampled at fixed intervals and converted into digital signals.

The shorter this sampling interval is, the more accurate the data will be.

While digital signals have the advantage of being unambiguous and difficult to transform compared to analog signals, they are also unable to reproduce data completely because the data will be truncated when sampled.
