A curing agent is added to sand during the process to create the sand mold for cast metal production.
A gear pump was used to supply the curing agent, controlling the amount to inject with a solenoid valve, which posed the following problem.

• Curing agent leaking from the shaft seal of the pump solidifies and adheres to the pump when exposed to air, leading to pump malfunctions.

The gear pump was replaced with a Smoothflow Pump.

• The completely sealed structure does not have a shaft seal, so the curing agent is never exposed to air.
