Customer's Needs and Problems

We are in the planning stage for a new plant that will produce surfactants.
We require a pump that will inject 1 L of hydrogen peroxide water per minute into a reaction tank, but we are having difficulty selecting this pump due to the harsh conditions.

  • As a design policy for the plant, we are unifying the material of liquid end parts to PTFE.
  • We require a piping distance to the injection point of the reaction tank of 180 m, a height difference of 15 m, and (when we calculated it) a pump discharge pressure of 0.7 MPa.
  • We cannot find a rotary pump model that meets both the conditions of material and pressure.
  • We found diaphragm pump models that meet the conditions, but they have pulsation and therefore require the installation of an air chamber. This is a dangerous liquid, so we do not want to use an air chamber, which has the risk of being damaged.

TACMINA's Solutions

The customer contacted us to see if they could use a Smoothflow Pump, so we selected a model.

  • We have delivered a large number of pumps made of PTFE in the past, so we had no trouble in meeting this condition.
  • The max. discharge pressure for a pump made of PTFE is 0.5 MPa with the standard specifications, but we cleared the customer’s condition of a pressure of 0.7 MPa by revising the valve design and customizing the pump.
  • Smoothflow Pumps have no pulsation, so we were able to construct a safe liquid transfer system that does not require the installation of an air chamber.
