Customer's Needs and Problems

Solvents (such as methanol and diethyl ether) including pharmaceutical materials are transferred with a pump, and analysis is performed with spectroscopy.
A syringe pump was used, which posed the following problems.

  • The amount of liquid that can be continuously transferred is limited by the syringe capacity.
  • To perform long-term, continuous tests, the syringe must be replenished with liquid whenever necessary.
  • It takes time to set and calibrate the flow rate.
  • Different pumps and syringes must be used to match the flow rate.

TACMINA's Solutions

We suggested that the customer use a “Q Series” Smoothflow Pump for small volume supply, and they agreed to this proposal.

  • There is no limit on the amount of liquid that can be transferred continuously, so it is now possible to easily perform the long-term tests that were impossible with a syringe pump.
  • The set amount can be discharged accurately, so time is no longer spent on flow rate adjustment.
  • The flow rate control range is wide at 0.1 mL/min to 100 mL/min, which enables one pump to support a variety of conditions.
