Smoothflow Pumps What is a Smoothflow Pump?

A conventional diaphragm pump changes rotary motion into reciprocating motion via a circular eccentric cam - this creates a pulsation effect as the fluid leaves the pump. TACMINA has developed a drive mechanism that eliminates pulsation within the pump itself using our own unique fluid transfer technique.

The Smoothflow Pump uses a patented drive mechanism that ensures continuous flow without pulsation by employing a precise, constant-speed cam. As a result, TACMINA pumps continuously deliver pulse-free fluid transfer with an extremely accurate metered output.

Smoothflow Pumps feature all of the benefits of a diaphragm pump as well as excellent precision and performance - Smoothflow is the answer!

Smoothflow Pumps Versus Conventional Pumps

Smoothflow Pumps
  • Pulse-free output
  • Superior metering accuracy
  • No leakage
  • No deterioration of fluids
  • Good for slurry transfer
  • Compatible with a wide range of fluids
  • No contamination by foreign matter
  • Ideal for long-distance and high pump head transfers
  • Safe and reliable
  • Energy saving
Diaphragm Pumps Conventional diaphragm pumps have advantages over other pump designs such as accurate metering and no leakage. However, due to the general design "pulsation" occurs, which leads to vibration, noise and other issues.
Diaphragm Pump + Air Chamber A common method for suppressing pulsation in conventional diaphragm pumps is to use an air chamber or other pulse-reducing devices.
However, using such a device often causes problems such as the lack of output responsiveness and the cost and effort required for cleaning and maintaining the device.
Rotary Positive Displacement Pump

Rotary positive displacement pumps typically offer pulse-free, continuous flow. However, friction causes the mechanical seal and packaging to wear which leads to performance issues and fluid contamination such as leakage.

Features of Smoothflow Pumps

Includes the features of "diaphragm pumps" that exhibit excellent performance in many different aspects, including accurate metering function, linearity, and repeatability, as well as the "pulseless property" which was considered impossible with diaphragm pumps.

Smoothflow Pumps, an ideal transfer pump with all of these advantages, cater to the needs of customers with remarkable precision and performance.

No Fluid Leakage

No leakage means your expensive chemicals and materials will not be wasted.

Additionally, TACMINA pumps transfer and mix toxic chemicals with minimal influence on people and the environment, for increased workplace cleanliness and safety.

Good for Slurry Transfer (Abrasion Resistant)

TACMINA pumps are not affected by abrasion because none of the wetted parts rotate or slide.

Even when transferring slurries, it allows for precise transfer and mixing. No crushing of the slurry or damage to the pump occurs because there is no friction.

Stable Flow Rate

Smoothflow Pumps offer a constant flow rate without being affected by external changes such as internal pipe pressure.

Unlike a rotary pump, there is no backflow due to a pressure change that may cause a significant decrease in the flow rate.

No Foreign Matter Contamination

Smoothflow Pumps do not have shafts that come in contact with your material, therefore there are no mechanical seals or packing.

As a result, there is no foreign matter contamination from the outside and there is no contamination from parts inside the pump rubbing or sliding against each other.

TACMINA pumps are very hygienic and provide a safe solution for transferring and mixing food, pharmaceuticals and other critical materials.

Safe for Dry-Running

Smoothflow Pumps are safe for dry-running because none of the wetted parts rotate or slide.

There is no risk of abrasion, pump seizure or overheating due to friction.

This means that the size of chemical tank can be minimum required size, which helps reduce the space needed and the cost.

Ease of Disassembly and Maintenance

Daily operation of Smoothflow Pumps is simple, easy and cost-effective. The disassembly, replacement of parts, and reassembly for maintenance are a breeze.

Sanitary types or CIP-compatible models greatly simplify tasks such as cleaning and changeover to different fluids. This is very useful when the pump is to be used for multiple purposes, such as producing a variety of products or as a testing device.

Gentle on Fluids

Smoothflow Pumps gently transfer and mix even the most delicate chemicals and fluids without damaging them.

Since there are no mechanical parts that come in contact with the fluid there is no shear, abrasion or temperature rise due to mechanical friction.

No Contact With The Open Air

Its completely sealed structure allows Smoothflow Pumps to be used in a completely in-line process.

It is suitable for transferring and mixing chemicals and fluids that evaporate easily or coagulate immediately when exposed to the open air.

Compatible With a Wide Range of Chemicals

Smoothflow Pumps enable precision fluid control over a wide range of applications, from trace amount injections to large volume transfers.

An array of materials are available for wet-end components to meet your requirements, making it easy to handle any chemical including acids, alkalis, and organic solvents.

Ideal for Long-Distance and High Pump Head Transfer

Smoothflow Pumps, by design, are inherently resistant to pressure fluctuations. As a result, they deliver a constant flow rate even in long-distance or high pump head applications.

There is no need to install a secondary tank, pump or additional hardware which improves maintainability and leads to significant cost savings.

Accurate and Simple Control

In addition to pulse-free operation, Smoothflow Pumps offer instant response to flow rate changes.

Unlike conventional diaphragm pumps fitted with an air chamber which must charge before delivery and continues until completely discharged when the process is stopped, Smoothflow Pumps discharge immediately upon start and stop fluid delivery immediately when the operation is halted. This enables the precise adjustment of the amount of fluid to be delivered and is especially critical for mixing ratios.

With a Smoothflow Pump, not a drop of expensive material is lost.

Cost Reduction

Conventional diaphragm pumps cause significant vibration and momentary pressure increases in the piping due to pulsation.

Smoothflow Pumps are pulseless and therefore do not cause these issues. Vibration and pressure rises inside the piping are virtually nonexistent, eliminating the need for a pulse-reducing device and reducing the number of piping supports required. The result is less cost and improved safety.

Energy Saving

Smoothflow Pumps are highly efficient and can be driven by a smaller motor than an equivalent centrifugal pump.

This feature contributes to a substantial reduction in power consumption and ultimately cost. The Smoothflow System is environmentally-friendly, easy to use and gentle on the fluid it transfers.
